Dr. Jones will cover two topics:

1. Criteria of Success for Dental Implants: The Evolving Definition

Dental implant therapy has been successfully utilized to rehabilitate patients for over the past four decades. Several methods to evaluate success of dental implants have been published. However, most of the accepted evaluation methods focus primarily on survival of the implant and does not factor the success of the prosthesis it’s supporting. Additionally, success of dental implant restorations should be considered from the perspective of the patient. This interactive presentation will cover accepted criteria of survival and success of dental implants. Current research will be presented evaluating success of dental implant therapy from the perspective of the general population. In addition, clinical techniques will be discussed to optimize pink and white esthetic implant restorations.

Objectives:
1) Understand the concept pink and white esthetic score
2) Be able to correlate layperson perspective to pink and white esthetic score
3) Implement procedures to enhance outcomes for optimal implant restorations

2. The Hybrid Restoration: Keys to Successful Outcomes

The Branemark protocol has been a treatment for the edentulous patient for the past four decades. However, various treatment-planning decisions must be addressed prior to initiating fixed dental implant therapy for the edentulous patient. This presentation will focus on a systematic approach to effectively treatment plan the hybrid restoration. Attendants will also learn simple methods to communicate three dimensional implant positions to optimize restoration success. Finally, clinical systems will be discussed to enhance simplicity of the restorative process for the hybrid restoration.

Objectives:
1) Be able to correctly recognize the potential hybrid patient
2) Effectively treatment plan the hybrid restoration utilizing a systematic approach
3) Implement predictable and simple treatment systems to ensure restoration success
